He also announced the completion of the recent “remodel” of his online museum by Popdaisy Design (http://popdaisydesign.com) that added more images from his thrift store painting collection and answers to frequently asked questions regarding the educational mission of the museum.
Beshid states: “When I created the Museum of Fred I had no idea my collection of amateur art would prove to be so internationally popular. I realized with all the press coverage and emails I received that I owed it to my fans to bring the museum up to date with an extensive remodel. I hope visitors will be pleased with the changes. I appreciate all the support I have received in this unique endeavor.”
The Museum of Fred (MOF) is an online museum featuring thrift store paintings from the collection of Fred Beshid. MOF endeavors to educate the public about the importance of American amateur art. Beshid states, “I feel making art is too important to be left only to art professionals.” MOF is in the Permanent Collection of Museum of Online Museums (MoOM) - http://www.coudal.com/moom
The Museum of Fred was established in 2000 to promote awareness of the contributions made by amateur artists to American cultural heritage by showcasing the amateur art collection of Fred Beshid. The paintings in the collection were primarily purchased from thrift stores in the greater Los Angeles area. The collection is a celebration of the diversity of Southern California and the potential of art to express our common humanity. The collection can be viewed at http://www.museumoffred.com.
Fred Beshid is a Los Angeles-based writer, artist, curator and filmmaker.
